GIRL

Yes I am a girl (so these posts may come up here and there) and this entry has nothing to do with photography and neither are the photos below mine, but I just thought these were really creative, and creativity is related to art and art related to photography so there...hmmm I guess this entry does belong here.

Just thought this was a neat way to propose, though I personally don't think it's something I would wear. Cool nonetheless.

This excerpt came with this photo
"designed by Jungyun Yoon was inspired by a Korean love song about a guy who discovers a sunburn mark where the ring of his ex girlfriend's once sat. They come with two sayings, 'will you marry me' and 'always'."

Another girly thing, actually you know what? I photograph couples in love and dang it, it's not just a girl thing (well partially) but hopefully some of the past couples or folks of soon to be couples or those that just love neat things can appreciate this post right? Here is another neat thing:

These artists "carve" you and your loved ones name on a "tree" in a cute keychain and mug.

This one is by Julieann (though this is sold out but I just thought it's a cute thing to show being a girl and all)
and this one by Jessica Rust design:

So went out to SF and took a couple of snaps with the ol' point and shoot:

SORRY

So sorry I've been so blah with updates. Maybe it's the weather making me want to do nothing and be lazy all the live long days.
Meanwhile here is a incredible book which I was excited to hear that was created and thinking oooh yay this would be wonderful to have as it has really really really really beautiful photos and the author is really really really talented, BUT the price is also really really pricy as well. I hope they come out with a soft cover one. Maybe it's the hard cover that ups the price by a couple hundred, so soft cover would be cheaper? Maybe if they take out the cover even more cheaper? (for you older audiences, do you remember the show "In living color" where there was that cheap guy who would keep trying to knock off a couple cents off of something? Like the soda price of $1 is too much so he says he will pay the guy 5 cents for a sip of the soda. haha )

CCCCCCCCCC

color composition cohesion cool cat corner in california crazy candy car
ok trying to see how many C's I can add...haha
I wanted to thank the wonderful volunteer submittal for critique! Just a disclaimer that the following is purely my humble opinion and I myself have many errors as well so please play nice and don't bash me, plus art is subjective etcetera, so I'll stop talking and move forward:

Color: the tones are dead on and I love the warm cast of the tree with the moss in the photo.
Composition: The use of the trunk leading the eye, framing the subject and using a large aperture to focus on only the subject provides for a very well composed photo. I really love the green background to help the squirrel pop even further in the photograph.
Here comes the total subjective side, while this is a great photograph, I would recommend a bit more pop to the photo with contrast to give it a bit more edge. I really like that it tells a story showing the tree trunk, the squirrel, that he/she is surrounded by greenery enjoying his food and it looks like carefully eyeing the photographer!

Color: Again great color, and the composition is great with a nice wide aperture. I give major points to capturing a sharp photo of a dog because they move so much! I do wish though that there was some context with this photo on what the dog is looking at though possibly the photographer has one and this one was just submitted. Portrait wise, it is a nice photo! :)

EDIT, just a extra link, but found a site that sells really cool cheap ties! I personally like the hunter green one, wow unique! I've not purchased personally from this person but from 125 feedback it was all positive on the site. Purchase at own risk but nice ties!

BALLOON

Practicing more off camera lighting, this evolved from an original idea that I had that ehh kinda worked but I didn't like the results too much so it went to this:

© Y (spriteyr)

Let's get water balloons and do this thing! WOW! Okay who is willing to get water balloon to the face? That's amazing :D

LOVE

Love at first sight.
I do believe in it.
I wasn't a believer but now I am.
It's because of him

(no, not talking about romantic love, apologies if you thought that was the case)
I've been impressed and astounded with beautiful works...but this...
is stunning and brilliant
and I am loving everything I have seen so far.
I would love to photograph like this!
I must master off camera lighting...

LARGER

How to post photos on blogger--bigger!
DISCLAIMER: REMEMBER do these steps at your own risk as I don't fully recall how I did these on my site?? Just played with some of the html and tips from others...I would also strongly recommend doing the "preview" option when messing with html to see what happens when you touch some of the html codes before actually executing the change incase you end up doing something funky which I may not be able to aid you with!

So if I remember correctly

First the easy part, go to the layout section and there are boxes where it's designated for header, and text, profile column and stuff correct? I moved the profile column and other stuff to the bottom of my page. Basically just so that only my blog entries take up the entire width of the blog.

Ok the next part is a bit tricky:

On the dashboard
I clicked on
Layout than edit html

TIP: use ctrl+F to find the text within the html box I mention below:
within the "edit html" box there should be something that describes the body of the blog which I believe is called "#main-wrapper"(use ctrl F to find this term) I changed the number value next to this to "800" I don't remember what it was before. (again not sure if this is right, but it sounds right...).

Here is where I clicked preview not save, not ok to make sure things didn't look wierd.

If the page looks normal and nothing funky going on, then the page should be set up well.

let's move on to a test blog entry.

Create a new blog entry and upload a photo. Then publish it. Than go back to edit that entry. There is a tab called "edit html" at the top of your blog entry box. Go to that. You will find a string of text with something that mentions width with some value and height with some value. Erase that portion of the html. Finally look a little bit more further and you will see a text with "s400" change it to "s800" than ta dah! it will make pictures bigger.

haha confused? Well I think if you do it step by step it should work. Otherwise I claim no responsibility bla bla bla etcetera, don't blame me, disclaimer, this is just my personal experience of a person getting tidbits of html advise here and there putting it together on a blog, no need to follow this...and things of that nature.

Random items:

Some other things, so I have this cold that just won't go away for quite a while. And so I was talking to someone how I caught the cold and the person says why did you catch it? You should have let it go. haha love that cute sense of humor. Anyways, so the person is like oh there is this product where it looks like a teapot. And you get lukewarm water and I think he said mix with some herbal thing it comes with and put it in the teapot. Than, you pour it in your NOSE. And I was thinking, huh? haha joking around again eh? No, no, he was serious.
I think I'll blow my nose the old fashion way. I just remember that when you go underwater the wrong way and water goes up your nose and it hurts...but maybe the herbal part of this liquid thing makes it not hurt?

from google images:

And also I saw some cute bunny photos from google images: so so cute!

UPDATE

Sorry for the lack of updates, been sick with a bad cold recently. Meanwhile, this has nothing to do with anything, but it's a very interesting test. I was in a seminar that discussed human behavior in relation to driving with further relation cell phones, texting and how much we really get distracted by these items. Very eye opening. Check it out and let me know how you do! I comment on my results in the comment area. :) They also did a study another study on cell phone usage and how the human awareness changes as a result. Interesting! Ok at least for me.

Another thing: (I'm a mac user) hahaha...

NERDY

This has nothing to do with photography but I thought this was a funny joke. I'll post some photos soon this week.

Once all the scientists die and go to heaven, they decide to play hide-n-seek. Einstein has to seek and is supposed to count up to 100 and then start searching. Everyone starts hiding except Newton - he just draws a square of 1 meter and stands in it right in front of Einstein.

Einstein keeps counting: 97,98,99...100!

He opens his eyes and finds Newton standing in front. Einstein says "Newton's out! Newton's out!"
Newton denies it and says "I am not out." He claims that he is not Newton.
All the scientists come out and he proves that he is not Newton.
He says: "I am standing in a square of area 1m square. That means I am Newton per meter square.
Hence I am Pascal....since newton per meter square = Pascal, Pascal is OUT!
(from a xanga blog)

This is a great one that S shared with me a while ago haha we were LAUGHING~
An insane mathematician gets on a bus and starts threatening everybody: "I'll integrate you! I'll differentiate you!!!" Everybody gets scared and runs away. Only one lady stays. The guy comes up to her and says: "Aren't you scared, I'll integrate you, I'll differentiate you!!!" The lady calmly answers: "No, I am not scared, I am e^x ."

Yep, nerdy.

HEEHEEHOHO

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT
Some new music that's pretty darn good.
Halflight

I've noticed that somehow my recent pics have somehow been coming up as really moody and dark. I really don't mean them to be that way but sometimes I have an idea in my head and as I am doing photoshop the picture takes a life of its own. I know it's like what are you talking about? You are the one that controls it! But somehow one does a little modification there to make a certain part of the picture look nice, than I need to add something else into complement that, etcetera and kablamoh that's what happens!
So wow that entire paragraph was alot of jibber jabber. My apologies. In anycase here is a happy picture (which I modified a bit more to I hope make it happier) I found in my archives while cleaning up the files. I believe it was taken early last year.

And early THIS year, I was with a bunch of friends and we made the things below! Hours and hours of spoon filling, make sticky side, seal. Oh and I did it and did it till my fingers couldn't close even and was seeing white spots (haha ok kidding with this one). We were eating some of them while making it so had energy and lots of fun! :) Ooh and it taste really great with the traditional potsticker soysauce and adding the rooster hot sauce. Mmm soooooo delicious!

HILARIOUS

So yeah I "hang" with the wedding photography crowd. Ok no I don't. But they posted this really really REALLY hilarious link on what it would be like if the groom planned the wedding. Oh man I would seriously recommend if you can be in a place where you can laugh out loud. I am at work so-o yeah can't so I had to loudly chuckle to myself inside and I feel like I want to explode somewhere. Ooh it would be best to read this on a roller coaster than you can really let it out right? hehe hehe.
ok no more talking here is link.

Sorry no picture, I will try and post one up soooooon.

AMAZE

Just wanted to share this awesome video with everyone. Sorry it has to be a link outside of my blog. Will figure out how to embed...doesn't seem to work with this computer I am working on. :P
Initially I had just loved the song but after seeing the music video, what an amazing inspiration of the human's ability and power. The courage and willingness to push oneself beyond any capability of human imagination to try and contribute love into this world. The amazing visual to know that we are more than what we can imagine ourselves to be if we allow to give completely of who we are.

ok ok a bit cheesy but well, that's whose I's ams... so there. be square. share. care. love and bear. ain't my rap so rare? go sit on a chair and brush your hair.
ok done being a cheesy girl don't rag on me don't you dare~ hehehe XD

And after the video incase you are curious about the guy in front of the tank...
here is some info on that...

Symmetry

A couple weeks ago I attended my very first photographer seminar! I didn't get to stay the entire length but it was so awesome to geek out completely as I have never before. There were vendors with really cool products/services /software, but of course the main feature of the whole thing was the speaker Ed Pierce. A photographer with alot of experience on his hands.

He spoke about lighting of course, locations but what really was interesting was capturing more flattering angles of people and how to perceive that. (no I am not that good at it haha but I guess I don't need to since my models /clients look good every which way! haha see that little bit of butt kissing I just did?)

Anyways, he mentioned how most people do not have a symmetrical face. And yes, many know that, but he suggested actually taking each respective side of a person's face and mirroring it. He stated how surprising the results would be.
Well...I had a little bit of time on my hands and did it with my face via mac photobooth...uhhh let's just say not so flattering. SO, I thought I would use a gorgeous korean talent Kim Tae Hee's face as illustration.

Check it out below!(photo not taken by me)
Really different right? I wonder if it is all korean folk, but my left side also had a stronger jaw line. Amazing how though not symmetrical her natural face is the most stunning one. Though now I can totally see that it's not symmetrical even though initially it looks hecka symmetrical!
Let me know what you think!

PERSPECTIVE

I got this forward recently from a friend, and mostly yes, this blog is about pictures but I really liked this one, it really got me thinking about the perspectives and truly realizing how much we really have that we probably neglect. Yes, and I know what I just said is something that's been said so much it kinda loses true meaning and sounds like a cliche but the following words refreshes ones perspective on appreciating how much we already have. :)
(sorry for the wierd text stuff happening below, these forwards have the funkiest combo of capital letters, colors, diff fonts...hehe)

I am thankful for the wife
WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE HUSBAND

FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES

FOR THE TAXES I PAY
because it means i am employed

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE

WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME

I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT
because it means I am capable of walking and i have been blessed with
transportation

FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM WARM.

WHO SINGS OFF KEY

BECAUSE IT MEANS
